When I was 12, I used to watch YouTube videos to learn how to sew. I didn't realize that fashion was actually a career until I discovered bootleg copies of Project Runway on the internet. Seeing all those people being able to pursue their passion inspired me, so I went from watching DIY YouTube videos to designing. I realized that this is what I wanted to do for a living.
My favorite part is thinking of a design in my head, and then somehow managing to create it in real life in a 3D environment. I really enjoy seeing other people wearing my clothes; it just makes me happy because it’s been my dream since I was a child.
Sometimes, though, having my own brand is really nerve-wracking. Of course, it's exciting and amazing, but also stressful because I second guess my designs, which is my biggest challenge. But starting my brand pushed me to do something that was about me and for myself instead of worrying about others. And when you put in all that effort, it builds your confidence; even if there are bumps in the road, you are more motivated to succeed.
I am proud of how far I’ve come in sewing and designing, and overcoming the struggles I've been through. I've always wanted to make it this far, but there were some points in my life when I didn’t think I would. I’ve learned that sometimes it doesn’t seem possible, but anything is possible when you believe in yourself.
