When I started wearing the hijab as a teenager, I wanted to always showcase it in a fun, colorful, and welcoming way to strangers. That way, my appearance would speak for itself and there wouldn’t be a barrier stopping me from doing what I wanted to do.

I've always been in love with fashion, whether it be drawing my outfits for the week as a kid, or organizing my friend's wardrobes. When I started wearing the hijab as a teenager, I wanted to always showcase it in a fun, colorful, and welcoming way to strangers. That way, my appearance would speak for itself and there wouldn't be a barrier stopping me from doing what I wanted to do.

I first realized there was a gap between mainstream and modest fashion after never finding myself represented in magazines, on billboards, and other media growing up since I always loved reading fashion material. I knew I wanted to close this gap, so I created an online presence to make modest fashion mainstream and allow women to feel represented. I eventually began working with brands to style their pieces in a modest way.

The greatest challenge I face is continuing to adapt to changing social media patterns and platforms while staying true to my content and my audience. Regarding fashion, I would advise hijabi girls and women to not absorb everything they see online without first contemplating if this is their true style and taste. It's easy to get caught up in images online without evaluating oneself.
